Things are winding down for high school football teams across the country and a number of Hawkeye commits in the class of 2018 have seen their senior seasons come to an end in recent weeks. Let’s take a look at how they’ve performed to-date in the playoffs and whose seasons are still alive.

Jack Plumb

Pos: TE/OT

Hometown: Green Bay, Wisconsin

Ht: 6’8”

Wt: 245 lbs

Offensive tackle commit Jack Plumb saw his high school career come to an end two weeks ago as his Bay Port team suffered their first loss of the season. It came at the hands of Appleton North in the Wisconsin playoffs. It’s the same Appleton North team that knocked out Henry Geil’s Preble team out the week before. The Lightning took down Bay Port 49-41 to end the Pirates’ season. Bay Port closes out the year 11-1. Plumb finishes the year with 4 catches for 58 yards and a pair of TDs.

Tyrone Tracy

Pos: ATH

Hometown: Indianapolis, Indiana

Ht: 6’

Wt: 185 lbs

Like Plumb, wide receiver commit Tyrone Tracy Jr. saw his high school career come to a close two weeks ago. His Decatur Central squad fell 42-21 to Cathedral in the Indiana state playoffs. Like much of his senior season, Tracy went out leading his team. He finished with 95 rushing yards on 5 carries with a TD Friday. He added another 102 receiving yards on 5 catches and another TD. Here’s a look at the highlights

Tracy finishes his senior season with 1,415 rushing yards and 13 TDs on 123 carries for an average of 11.5 yards per carry. Through the air, Tracy amassed 1,131 receiving yards and 16 TD receptions on 54 catches for an average of 20.9 yards per catch. The 2,500-plus yards from scrimmage and 29 touchdowns gives Tracy a really good argument for Indiana Mr. Football. Decatur Central finishes the year 10-2.

Julius Brents

Pos: DB

Hometown: Indianapolis, IN

Ht: 6’2

Wt: 180 lbs

Continuing the trend, safety Julius Brents and Warren Central saw their season come to a close the first week in November. They came up short in a 36-29 loss to Ben Davis. As of yet, there are no stats for this one.

Pending the stats from the final game, Brents finishes his senior season (which was cut short due to a knee injury early in the year) with 13 tackles and an interception. Warren Central finishes the year 7-4.

Anthony Torres

Pos: TE

Hometown: Mishawaka, Indiana

Ht: 6’6”

Wt: 235 lbs

One of the few Hawkeye commits to see his senior year extended was Anthony Torres of Mishawaka Penn. Unfortunately, Torres remains out for the season with an injury. Penn racked up 40-0 win over Warsaw in the Indiana state playoffs two weeks ago and followed that up with a 33-3 victory over Crown Point last week. They advance to take on Carmel this Friday.

Terry Roberts

Pos: DB

Hometown: Erie, PA

Ht: 5’10”

Wt: 169 lbs

Defensive back commit Terry Roberts and Cathedral Prep had the week off on the third, but came back in a big way last week. Terry racked up 161 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns on 5 catches (32.2 yards per catch) and added a pair of interceptions on defense in the first half of a 56-0 destruction of University Prep. Here’s a look at the highlights.

On the season, Terry now has 1,029 yards and 14 TDs on 34 catches (30.3 YPC) offensively, as well as 5 interceptions on the defensive side of the ball. The win moves Cathedral to 11-0 on the year. They get a bye this week, but will face off with the winner of Montour and Thomas Jefferson on November 24th. You can see their playoff bracket here.

Samson Evans

Pos: ATH

Hometown: Crystal Lake, IL

Ht: 6’1”

Wt: 190 lbs

Wide receiver commit Samson Evans, along with offensive line commit Jeff Jenkins, kept their senior seasons alive over the last two weeks. Prairie Ridge escaped with a 17-13 win over Cary-Grove back on November 4th. Evans, who plays QB in a run-oriented offense, finished with 186 rushing yards and a pair of TDs on 28 carries. Most importantly, with 19 seconds left in the game, he took one 66 yards to the house for the win. Have a look.

Prairie Ridge followed that up with a 42-7 beat down of Willowbrook last week. Evans tallied 129 yards and 4 TDs on 29 carries (4.4 YPC) and added 55 passing yards and a TD on 23 passing in the victory.

On the year, Evans now has 1,619 rushing yards on 199 carries (8.1 YPC) and 34 total TDs. Prairie Ridge moved to 13-0 on the year with the win. They continue their quest to repeat as state champions this week with a matchup with Hoffman Estates. You can see the full playoff bracket here.

Dillon Doyle

Pos: LB

Hometown: Iowa City, IA

Ht: 6’3”

Wt: 215 lbs

Linebacker Dillon Doyle and Iowa City West kept their season alive as well. West won their second round playoff matchup 27-9 over Cedar Falls two weeks ago. Doyle finished with 10 tackle, including one for loss. He also caused a key fourth quarter fumble to shut the door on Cedar Falls. Here’s a quick look at his highlights from the game.

They followed that up with 23-0 victory over Bettendorf in The Dome last week. Doyle tallied 4 tackles, including one for loss, on defense and 2 catches for 9 yards on offense in the win.

On the season, Doyle now has 69 tackles and 9.5 TFL. He also has 235 yards and 4 receiving TDs on 18 catches (13.1 YPC) on offense. The wins the last two weeks move Iowa City West to 12-0 on the year. They advance to take on Dowling Catholic and top Iowa target John Waggoner this Friday in The Dome in Cedar Falls for the 4A state championship. You can see the full playoff bracket here.
