Iowa Football Recruiting: Class of 2018 Commitment Week 7 Performance Recap

Things didn’t end well for the Hawkeyes on Saturday. How did the commitments in the class of 2018 look in week 7 of the high school season?

Henry Geil

Pos: RB

Hometown: Green Bay, Wisconsin

Ht: 6’

Wt: 211 lbs

RB commit Henry Geil was held in check after a couple of really solid performances. He finished with 60 yards on 16 carries on Friday as his Preble team lost to Notre Dame 24-10. Here’s a look at Geil’s highlights from the game.

On the season, Geil now has 1,128 yards and 14 touchdowns on 166 carries. He’s averaging 6.8 yards per carry. With the loss, Preble is now 5-2 on the year. This Friday they take on Pulaski.

Jack Plumb

Pos: TE/OT

Hometown: Green Bay, Wisconsin

Ht: 6’8”

Wt: 245 lbs

Once again, OL commit Jack Plumb was held without a catch this week (reminder he plays TE in high school). His Bay Port team moved to 7-0 on the season with a 21-14 win over Green Bay Southwest. They will play host to De Pere this Friday before a showdown with Geil’s Preble squad on October 13th.

Tyrone Tracy

Pos: ATH

Hometown: Indianapolis, Indiana

Ht: 6’

Wt: 185 lbs

In a rare occurance, WR commit Tyrone Tracy was held under 100 yards last week. He managed only 6 rushing yards on 10 carries, but registered 73 receiving yards on 4 catches, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds.Decatur Central won 13-12 over Greenwood to improve to 6-1 on the year. Here’s a look at the highlights.

On the year, Tracy now has 706 rushing yards on 82 carries for an average of 8.6 yards per carry and 5 TDs on the ground. He also has 32 catches for 603 receiving yards (18.8 yards per reception) and 10 more touchdowns. The Hawks will host Roncalli this Friday.

DJ Johnson

Pos: DB

Hometown: Indianapolis, IN

Ht: 6’

Wt: 170 lbs

Indianapolis cornerback commit DJ Johnson had another solid game on the defense for his North Central squad Friday. He recorded 4 tackles and a pass breakup, but North Central lost another close one. This time it was a 21-15 defeat at the hands of Lawrence Central. The loss drops them to 3-4 on the year.

This season, Johnson now has 27 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 4 pass break-ups. The Panthers will be at Pike this Friday as they look to get back in the win column.

Julius Brents

Pos: DB

Hometown: Indianapolis, IN

Ht: 6’2

Wt: 180 lbs

Fellow Indianapolis defensive back Julius Brents wasn’t tested much last week. He only recorded 1 tackle and no passes defended as Warren Central beat up on Lawrence North 53-3 to move to 4-3. On the year, which has been limited to only the last 3 games due to a knee injury, Brents now has 3 tackles and an interception. Warren Central will be at Carmel this Friday.

Anthony Torres

Pos: TE

Hometown: Mishawaka, Indiana

Ht: 6’6”

Wt: 235 lbs

TE commit Anthony Torres remained sidelined with an injury last week. His Mishawaka Penn team moved to 6-1 after pummeling South Bend Clay 58-0. They will take on Elkhart Central this Friday.

Terry Roberts

Pos: DB

Hometown: Erie, PA

Ht: 5’10”

Wt: 169 lbs

Pennsylvania defensive back commit Terry Roberts continues to impact his Cathedral Prep team in all three phases of the game. He finished Friday with a tackle and an interception on defense, a 34-yard reception on offense, and a punt return for 50 yards as Cathedral rolled to a 48-0 win over St. Francis Friday. Here’s a look at the highlights.

On the season, Roberts now has 425 receiving yards and 5 TDs on only 12 catches. He’s averaging 35.4 yards per reception. On the defensive side of the ball, Roberts now has 5 tackles and 3 interception, as well as a pass break-up. The win Friday moves Cathedral Prep to 6-0 on the year. They will play be at De La Salle Collegiate this Friday.

Samson Evans

Pos: ATH

Hometown: Crystal Lake, IL

Ht: 6’1”

Wt: 190 lbs

WR commit Samson Evans, who plays QB for his Prairie Ridge high school team, likely had the performance of the week Friday. He racked up more than 200 all-purpose yards and 2 TDs as Prairie Ridge took down McHenry 42-14. Evans tallied 106 rushing yards and threw a pair of touchdown passes in the win. Here’s a look at the highlights from the game.

On the year, Evans now has 889 yards rushing and 13 TDs on 91 carries for an average of 9.8 yards per carry. The win moves Prairie Ridge to 6-0 on the season. They’ll be at Hampshire this Friday.

Dillon Doyle

Pos: LB

Hometown: Iowa City, IA

Ht: 6’3”

Wt: 215 lbs

Dillon Doyle and Iowa City West pitched a shutout against Burlington Friday, handling them 49-0. Doyle finished with 2 tackles on the defensive side of the ball. Here’s a look at the game highlights.

On the season, Doyle now has 29 tackles and 3 TFL to go with 160 receiving yards and 2 TDs on 10 catches (16 YPC). West High moved to 6-0 with the win. They will host Cedar Rapids Kennedy this Friday.
