There are now 17 commitments in Iowa’s class of 2017. Recently-offered Texas WR Beau Corrales announced today that he will be joining #Swarm17. The 6’4” 205-lb product of Georgetown, Texas becomes the 3rd receiver in the class (joining fellow Texan Gavin Holmes and Mississippi product Brandon Smith) and the SIXTH pledge from the state of Texas. That’s more than any other state.
Proud to say I am committing to the University of Iowa pic.twitter.com/5IvgSXMqep— 1️⃣Beau Corrales5️⃣ (@BEAU_JANGLES12) September 15, 2016
Corrales isn’t the most heralded receiver in the group as he is only ranked as a 2-star, but his stock has been on the rise. Beau was originally committed to Texas State, but recently re-opened his recruitment after Iowa offered. Indiana followed suit and Wisconsin started to show some interest. Corrales and his family attended the Iowa-Iowa State game last weekend and came away very impressed. Apparently there was no need to see if his recruitment would continue to pick up.
While not the fastest recruit in the class, Corrales is a big receiver at 6’4” and has shown the ability to both get behind defenders and out-physical them for the ball. Through 3 games in his senior season at Georgetown, Beau has hauled in 32 grabs for 365 yards and 5 scores. For the math majors at home, that’s more than 10 balls a game for more than 100 yards and nearly 2 TD a game. I’ll take it, 3rd star be damned. Maybe Oliver Martin will let him borrow his KMM 2-star t-shirt? Maybe they can share it for a few years?
