LUNCH LINKS: Iowa Football in the news

Micah Hyde is making plays, some recruitment news, and Kids Day. Football everywhere.

Today Iowa Football holds its annual Kids Day at noon, and if you’re not going and need your Hawkeye Football fix, or if you’re going and just need something to read on your way there, we have you covered with some Saturday lunch links.

This morning, the Hawkeye Football Twitter account released their tenth installment of “The Iowa Edge,” and it’s a doozy.

Still love these all-black jerseys, and I really wish they’d come back for another appearance, although knowing Iowa Football, these are a thing of the past.

  • Last night, Micah Hyde picked off RGIII at the goal line in the Packers’ first preseason game of the season. Wasn’t a particularly good throw, but Hyde makes a great play to make the diving catch. Always great to see him doing things (and he does a lot with Green Bay).
  • In some CROOTIN’ news...

Smart is a 3-star athlete from Auburndale, FL, who projects to play either running back or wide receiver. Judging by his size (he’s only 5’8” and 160 lb.), he probably projects to be a running back, although he could potentially see some time as a slot receiver if he can develop into a good route runner. He has blazing speed (his Hudl says he runs a 4.37 40-yd dash) and judging by his highlights, he could project to be a Jonathan Parker type of weapon.

  • Also in recruiting news, Iowa target Mac Hippenhammer is announced his decision this morning at 11 a.m., and he chose to take his talents to State College to play for the Nittany Lions.

THREE WEEKS UNTIL FOOTBALL SEASON. Time is moving so slowly...
