PETER JOK INVITED TO NIKE BASKETBALL ACADEMY

Embrace the Swoosh, Pete.

Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports

Peter Jok's Offseason Adventures are set to continue -- after dipping his toes in the NBA Draft process a few months ago, Jok will be hanging out with some NBA superstars later this summer at the 2016 Nike Basketball Academy.  The 2016 Nike Basketball Academy is held in Los Angeles at the end of July (July 24-28) and features 20-30 top college basketball players who work with top NBA talent to improve their basketball skills. It's basically the Platonic ideal of sending your kid to a summer basketball camp.

This year's crop of NBA talent at the camp includes LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Anthony Davis.  That's not too shabby.  Not coincidentally, those players all have endorsement deals with Nike -- it's not called the Nike Basketball Academy for nothing.  In other words, don't expect to see guys like Steph Curry (Under Armour), Damian Lillard (Adidas), or Klay Thompson (Anta) there.

If an Iowa player attending the Nike Basketball Academy over the summer sounds familiar, well, it should.  Aaron White attended this event in the summer of 2014 and Jarrod Uthoff attended it last summer.  Jok will be the third Hawkeye player to attend the event in the last three summers.  White and Uthoff parlayed their experiences at the Nike Basketball Academy into stellar senior seasons, assuming leadership roles and guiding Iowa to wins in the NCAA Tournament as well as spots on the All-Big Ten first team.  Can Jok do the same?  We certainly hope so. If he does, the 2016-17 Iowa basketball season could be another very fun one for Iowa fans.
