Here at the Pants, we’re well aware that this season’s Iowa football team is very hard to root for and even harder to just watch. There are no guarantees that this season will get any better, nor are there any games left that everyone is even confident that they can win. Things look bleak, to say the least.
However, that doesn’t mean we can’t look at old Iowa players that we all know and love. After a huge week last week, how did some of our favorite Iowa alumni perform in Week 9?
- Starting off with the hottest former Hawkeye in the NFL, Adrian Clayborn continued to obliterate opposing quarterbacks this week in the Falcons’ 43-28 victory over the Buccaneers. Clayborn recorded three tackles, including two tackles for loss and a sack, and registered three QB hits. Clayborn now has 4.5 sacks on the season and a touchdown. Not too shabby for a guy who wasn’t getting a whole ton of looks in Atlanta when the season started.

- Also in Atlanta, Jonathan Babineaux had a pretty serviceable game this weekend, recording five tackles for the Falcons.
- In Cleveland, Anthony Hitchens and Christian Kirksey’s teams faced off and the two were atop their respective teams’ stat sheets in the Cowboys’ 35-10 victory over the Browns. Hitchens recorded six tackles on the day, including a half sack, for the Cowboys, while Christian Kirksey recorded nine tackles, including one tackle for loss.
- Chad Greenway has been pretty quiet for the majority of his final seaosn, but he had a hell of a day for the Vikings in their 22-16 loss to the Detroit Lions. Greenway had six tackles for Minnesota, but his biggest play of the day was an interception in Detroit territory. It was his 11th career interception and his 220 interception return yards as a linebacker rank him second in Vikings history.

- Micah Hyde and Mike Daniels both had a pretty quiet day for the Green Bay Packers in their 31-26 loss against the Colts. Daniels had one tackle, while Micah Hyde had three tackles, including one tackle for loss.
And lastly, I’ll leave you with this video of Marshal Yanda walking out of a pile with the ball while everyone fights over the ball that isn’t there. Pure comedy in the way he nonchalantly just kinda comes up with it and no one has any idea.
[EDIT: The Vine posted was taken down by the NFL, it appears, sometime this morning. You’ll just have to imagine it with me, though, and laugh to yourself a little watching a bunch of dudes in a skirmish for the ball while Marshal Yanda gracefully walks out of the pile with the ball.]
