Whatcha Drinkin, Who Ya Watchin: Week 12

Last week we told you to avoid the Iowa game at all costs. That worked well. Do that again!

Well, just like we told you here last week, Michigan at Iowa was the game of the week and one to remember for a lifetime. Hope you took our advice. And since we are so smart and clearly can predict the future, you should listen to what we have to say about games to watch this week. Yeah, let’s go with that.

Just as in the past several weeks, there’s already been some MACtion this week, but the college football week kicks off in earnest tonight as #5 Louisville and the human highlight reel travel to 8-2 Houston. That one is on ESPN at 7pm CT. There’s also a sneaky good (I’ve oversold this) matchup between Arkansas State and 8-1 Troy on ESPNU at 8:30.

Friday night we get UNLV at #20 Boise State at 8pm CT on ESPN2. Memphis is also at Cincinnati, but nobody cares and it’s on the CBS Sports Network. Good luck finding it.

Saturday’s slate of games is less than impressive. We are to the point in the season where the SEC tries to hide their cream puffs and afford themselves an extra bye. I don’t hate the strategy, but they tend to get the benefit of the doubt in terms of scheduling and this is just ridiculous. This week includes Georgia hosting Louisiana-Lafayette, Texas A&M hosting the University of Texas-San Antonio, South Carolina hosting Western Carolina, Kentucky hosting Austin Peay, Alabama hosting Chattanooga and Auburn hosting Alabama A&M. That will all likely be glossed over as #16 LSU is hosting #23 Florida, so you know, the SEC schedule is just brutal.

Given that SEC day of scheduling, there is basically nobody from the conference on anything other than the SEC Network (and of course the obligatory Alabama on game on ESPN2, because hey who doesn’t want to watch that?)

Ohio State v Maryland
Ohio State no longer controls their own Big Ten destiny, but they are still in good shape for the CFP.

The 11am CT slot has #7 Wisconsin at Purdue on ABC, #2 OSU at MSU on ESPN and Kansas State at Baylor on ESPN2. You can, of course, watch Iowa take on Illinois on BTN. Given last week, I’m tempted to again advise you not watch it. You can decide for yourself how superstitious you want to be. #11 OK State is at TCU on FS1 and #18 Nebraska is hosting Maryland on ESPN News.

At 2:30pm CT, you get Notre Dame hosting VaTech on NBC (exhilarating, I know), #19 Tennessee hosting Missouri on CBS, Syracuse hosting #17 Florida State mirrored with Kansas hosting Texas on ABC/ESPN2 (it’s just that kind of weekend). ESPN has #3 Michigan hosting Indiana, BTN brings you Northwestern at Minnesota and the highlight of this timeslot is #10 Colorado hosting #22 Washington State on FOX.

Things don’t get a whole lot better in the evening games. #1 Alabama is hosting Chattanooga (hey, they’re 8-2!) on ESPN2 at 6pm. Arkansas is at Mississippi State on ESPNU at the same time. And ESPN has #4 Clemson at Wake Forest at that time as well.

Baylor v Oklahoma
OKlahoma is on the outside looking in at this point. A top-15 win this week would help.

At 6:30 CT you have Arizona State at #6 Washington on FOX. In primetime you have Vanderbilt hosting Ole Miss on the SEC Network, #8 Penn State at Rutgers on BTN and #9 Oklahoma at #14 West Virginia on ABC.

Your #Pac12AfterDarkMatchup is #13 USC at UCLA at 9:30 on ESPN.

This is pretty much what I expect our house to look like this weekend.

My beverage of choice this week will be champagne. Not only is that where Iowa is playing this week, but we are also celebrating the announcement of baby JPinIC #2 this week. Send me free stuff (sleep is preferred if you can get it in the mail) unless you plan on attending the baby shower.

As always, you can find EVERY game on the docket for the weekend below. DISCLAIMER: this table is created by the SB Nation crew, not us, so the times listed below are EASTERN.
