The Iowa Hawkeyes continued their undefeated streak to start out the basketball season, taking down Savannah State 116-84.
I really don’t have much to say about this game. The BTN+ stream was unwatchable, and I know I wasn’t the only one who had problems with it. If you feel so inclined to send an angry grandpa email to the folks who run it, we would not judge you. At times the radio stream was iffy for me too.
Brady Ellingson led the Hawkeyes with 23 points, going 4-6 on 3’s. Cordell Pemsl looked pretty good for a freshman, notching 18 points and going 7-7 for shooting.
Tyler Cook had 14 points, many of which were dunks. Many of the freshman looked pretty good in fact, though Savannah State isn’t exactly the best barometer of success. Iowa’s stalwart in Peter Jok looked a little rusty, notching just 13 points and going 3-10 for three-pointers. I’m not too worried his play though.
Iowa's 3-pointers made (18) and attempted (43) are new school records in a single-game. #Hawkeyes— Iowa Basketball (@IowaHoops) November 13, 2016
Oh and this too:
Iowa’s 116 points are the most in the Fran McCaffery era. The 116 points equal the seventh most scored in a single game in program history.— Iowa Basketball (@IowaHoops) November 13, 2016
And that’s really we have to offer.
If you were at this game, or able to watch it on the stream uninhibited somehow, feel free to jot some notes in the comments. I imagine there is a way to watch a clean replay of this later tonight or tomorrow, after which we’ll post a more comprehensive recap of Iowa’s two games this weekend.
Iowa basketball is undefeated, and the football team just had one of its best wins in program history.
Enjoy Westworld tonight y’all.
