Whatcha Drinkin, Who Ya Watchin: Week 7?

Floyd is home in Iowa City, the Hawkeyes are travelling to our most hated rival and there are some great matchups this weekend. Life is good.

Indiana v Ohio State
The marquee matchup this week is #2 OSU at #8 Wisconsin.

Here we are again on the brink of another weekend of college football. Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait a little longer than usual this week. #25 Navy at East Carolina has been postponed so there are no Thursday night games this week.

There are a handful of games Friday night. The only ones you probably care about are Duke at #7 Louisville at 6pm CT on ESPN. That’ll be followed up with Mississippi State at BYU at 9:15 CT, also on ESPN.

Kentucky v Alabama
#1 Alabama heads to #9 Tennessee in the 2:30 timslot on CBS.

We are in the heat of the conference slate and that means there are a handful of pretty good games every Saturday, as well as some games that don’t mean much outside the conference. This week is no different, but we are treated to a pair of top ten matchups, including one in the Big Ten.

The early games get kicked off at 11am CT with #3 Clemson hosting the hurricane-tested NC State Wolfpack on ABC. On ESPN, you can catch #19 Oklahoma as they host Kansas State in a battle of former Iowa guys. Of course, you can watch the Hawkeyes destroy* our most hated rival on ESPN2 (note that the football Gods at ESPN have granted mercy on the Hawkeye faithful and graced us with a new broadcast crew that does NOT include Beth Mowins). You can also catch the Pillow Fight in Piscataway on ESPN News as Illinois is at Rutgers. Minnesota will also try to score a point at Maryland on ESPNU.

The really good stuff gets started in the 2:30 CT time slot. #1 Alabama is at #9 Tennessee on CBS. FOX has USC at Arizona. #14 Florida State plays host to Wake Forest on ESPN. Northwestern is at MSU on the BTN. And ABC/ESPN2 will split duties for #10 Nebraska at Indiana (can Tommy Armstrong throw an interception if Indiana refuses to field a defense?) and North Carolina at #16 Miami.

The evening games get started with #12 Ole Miss at #22 Arkansas at 6pm CT on ESPN. The primetime showdown everyone will be watching is #2 Ohio State at #8 Wisconsin at 7pm CT on ABC. There’s a ton on the line here aside from the top 10 matchup. This one has playoff and Big Ten Championship implications. Iowa also has a date with Wisconsin next weekend. The Badgers are wrapping up their gauntlet of a schedule Halloween weekend with a home visit from Nebraska following trips to MSU and Michigan, a home game against OSU and a trip to Iowa City. Woof.

Your late games are Colorado State at #15 Boise State at 9:15 CT on ESPN2 and UCLA at Washington State at 9:30 CT on ESPN.

Pray for me, and the Hawkeyes, that there’s still at least 1 of these sitting in the beer fridge.

This week I’m sticking with the trend set last week. Apparently the football Gods would like me to drink based on Iowa’s opponents and I’m not about to start pissing them off. I’m fairly certain I’ve got 2-3/6 of a 3 Floyds Dreadnaught sixer floating around here somewhere. Unfortunately I’ll be watching the game from the in-laws so I’ll have to do some digging to find them before we head out. I’m seeking suggestions for potential alternatives if I’ve been mistaken on my supply. Anyone got recommendations for something tasty from Indiana that can be found in Nowhere, Iowa? Lot of qualifiers there I know. I’ll accept anything you think will keep the football Gods happy for another week.

As always, below you’ll find a listing of EVERY game on the docket for the weekend. Reminder, this table is created by the SB Nation crew, not us, so the times listed below are EASTERN:
