IOWA VS. NORTHWESTERN: SECOND HALF GAME THREAD

Hey look Iowa showed up

NCAA Football: Northwestern at Iowa Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

Iowa scored two touchdowns in five minutes to give it a 21-17 lead and make it a game.

The Hawkeyes looked absolutely deflated while Northwestern cruised to a 17-7 lead, but a huge pass to Jay Scheel on third down followed up by an Akrum Wadley touchdown gave the offense life. The defense then forced a fumble on the ensuing Northwestern possession, and C.J. threw a perfect flag to Riley McCarron on third down to give Iowa the lead.

There was a chance Iowa could have gotten some points with under two minutes left in the half, but then the referees decided to take a play off and miss perhaps one of the most blatant pass interference calls I have ever seen.

Anyway, it’s dumb to blame the referees on anything. Let’s hope Iowa doesn’t get complacent in the second half here and hope the offense goes back to that hurry-up that gave the Wildcats fits.
