New Year's Eve, time for... football? If ESPN and the College Football Playoff get their way, yes. After a few weeks of minor bowls, the big-time bowls (aka, the New Year's Six bowls) are upon us, starting with the Peach Bowl right now and followed by the two bowls hosting the College Football Playoffs, the Orange Bowl (at 3 PM) and the Cotton Bowl (at 7 PM).
The primetime game might be of the most interest to us. But for a play here or there, Iowa might have been in that game game rather than Michigan State. Alas. Can Michigan State make it two years in a row with a Big Ten team knocking an SEC team out of the playoffs -- in the semifinals, no less? That would be pretty delicious.
