Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers: Start Time, TV Coverage, How to Watch Online, Odds

Nebraska stands in the way of Iowa and a perfect regular season.

Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sports

12-0.

A perfect regular season.

That's what's really on the line today when Iowa ventures into Lincoln to take on Nebraska.  A spot in the Big Ten Championship Game is already locked up -- Iowa secured that with their win over Purdue last week.  A spot in the College Football Playoff is still up for grabs, but that isn't going to be settled until after next week's game and it's possible (though perhaps not hugely probable) that Iowa could claim a spot in that event with a loss against Nebraska and a win in the title game.

But 12-0 is definitely on the line today.  10-0 was history and 11-0 was history so obviously 12-0 would be history.  The only perfect regular seasons in the history of Iowa football were accomplished by Howard Jones almost 100 years ago -- a pair of 7-0 campaigns in 1921 and 1922.  Nile Kinnick never completed a perfect regular season. Forest Evashevski never completed a perfect regular season. Hayden Fry never completed a perfect regular season.

And it's Nebraska.  Last year's galling loss to the Cornhuskers has been cited ad nauseum by the players and the coaches as one of the pivotal experiences that inspired this year's incredible turnaround. Twelve months later, Iowa finally has a chance at payback, at redemption, at closing the loop.  Get it done.
