IOWA TOUCHDOWNS 4 KIDS UPDATE: GET ON THAT HORSE, JACOBI

We hit our goal before the season even started! Now let's run up the score.

We did it.

As of last week, the BHGP community had donated $345 per touchdown to Iowa Touchdowns for Kids, our annual fundraiser with the University of Iowa Children's Hospital.  That left us just $55 short of our goal of $400 per score, and as we had promised, if BHGP reached its goal, noted horsist Adam Jacobi would ride a horse and post a selfie with the horse as his Twitter avatar.

This morning, we were told that BHGP donations were up to $393 per touchdown, a mere seven dollars short of the $400 we hoped to get by the end of the year.  We posted an alert to Twitter, and that $7 was covered in no time.  PackerHawk started it.

And our very own PSD finished it.

Our friends at Children's Hospital have informed us that, as of noon today, the Black Heart Gold Pants Community has donated $402 PER TOUCHDOWN FOR 2014!

WE DID IT!

Plans for the blessed event will be released when known -- we're going to shoot for Ball State weekend in Iowa City, so if anyone knows someone with a horse who can make sure Adam doesn't get maimed let me know -- and we'll stream it for the masses to see.  Venue will obviously determine whether we can have a live crowd, but we'll do our best.

Now, of course, we aren't done yet.  Adam has already accepted an additional bet:

If we get to $450, Jacobi will wear a sequined shirt while riding the horse.

If we pass that milestone -- JUST $48 AWAY -- we will take offers for the $500 level.

We thought $400 was going to be a challenge.  You all proved it was not, and we're extremely proud today to be members of this community.  BHGP has accounted for nearly 80% of the pledges by number and over 85% of the amount pledged to TD4K so far this year.  We always build an early lead, though.  The challenge will be to keep it up once the season starts and the general public starts paying attention.  We are confident we can do it, but only through you guys.

The donation form is embedded below, and if it doesn't work, just click here and make a donation.  Be sure to check the box for Black Heart Gold Pants Blog to have your donation count toward Jacobi's fancy shirt.
