The Iowa Department of Transportation officials said Monday that Iowans will now be able to design their own license plates online. The old version was done on a mail-in order form and you had no clue if the plate you wanted was available. A not-so-friendly state employee would look over your application to check for availability and also to look at the meaning of the words or phrase you selected..
The new online system should speed up the application process considerably. The system lets you personalize your license plate and check availability of words/phrases with the click of a mouse. Since the process is now so straightforward, we thought we'd give BHGP readers an opportunity to show their creativity.
