IT WAS CLOSE TO THE FINISH. The Iowa women trailed 70-69 at Penn State with a little over a minute to play. Bethany Doolittle and freshman Ally Disterhoft hit big shots for the Hawks as they went ahead 73-70. Penn State never recovered and Iowa beats the #9 ranked Nittany Lions in the Bryce Jordan Center. The ladies dance.

LISA BLUDER MATCHES C. VIVIAN STRINGER. The win for Bluder ties her with C. Vivian Stringer as the winning-est coach in Iowa Women's Basketball history. Stringer and Bluder each have 269 wins as the head Hawkeye.

IOWA REMAINS TIED WITH MICHIGAN FOR THIRD PLACE. Penn State and Michigan State are tied for first in the Big Ten with (8-2) records. Nebraska is second and 1.5 games back at (6-3) in conference play. Next is Iowa and Michigan and behind both the Hawks and Wolverines, Purdue sits at (6-5). Iowa will next host Northwestern (4-6, 14-9) and Illinois (2-8, 9-14) before a showdown at Purdue on February 16th.
