One of football's most high-profile job openings may have drawn a Ferentz into the mix.
Um, sort of.
I'm hearing @HoustonTexans already have strong candidate for new o-line coach that may be done deal: Brian Ferentz from University of Iowa

Brian Ferentz, son of Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz, was @Patriots assistant from 2009 to 2011. Started as offensive assistant, left as TE coach

What? How else was anyone supposed to interpret our headline?
Anyway, this could be leverage for a heftier contract from Iowa—Brian's dad knows a thing or two about that—or Bill O'Brien may just be content to tab a guy he's familiar with and who has the right kind of experience. It doesn't do much for the dynastic succession plan Kirk Ferentz obviously has in place, but perhaps they're just loaning Brian to the NFL to beef his resume up and make it not quite so obvious that he's the head coach in waiting at Iowa. Cunning plan, that.
