AND FANS WERE EXCITED.
EVEN PRESIDENT OBAMA WANTED TO WATCH. His staffers had to pull him away from MSU-Iowa Super Tuesday action.
AND THEN THE GAME HAPPENED. Perhaps it was a blown opportunity. But, Iowa's loss to Michigan State in behind us now. The Hawkeyes hit the road to take on Illinois tomorrow evening. Illinois is struggling, having lost six games in a row. Iowa struggles in Champaign. Iowa hasn't won there since the 1990's. Something has to give.
THE BIG TEN NETWORK WILL CARRY IOWA-ILLINOIS. Stay tuned after the game for The Journey.
Watch @BTNJourney after Saturday's game at Illinois (8:30 pm CT), which will have a piece on @IowaHoops and @Aaron_White30. #Hawkeyes

TONIGHT, TONIGHT! The Hawkeye wrestlers return to the mats in Evanston. The meet begins at 7:00 pm CT and will air on BTN.com. We'll have more about that later.
THE HAWK LADIES KEEP WINNING. That's three in a row for Lisa Bluder's squad. Sam Logic 12 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds led the Hawkeyes to a win over Minnesota. Here's the highlights:
IOWA LADIES NEXT HOST NEBRASKA. Tip-off is set for tomorrow at 2:00 PM CT in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. It's a match-up of the league's best offense (Iowa) vs. the league's best defense. Iowa is (5-3) in Big Ten play. Nebraska is (4-3). This is a big one for Lisa Bluder's Hawks.
THE LADY HAWKS ARE LOOKING AT A SIX SEED. In the latest Women's Basketball bracketology, Iowa lands as a six seed. Iowa could host the first round pod and a potential match-up against Vanderbilt on their home court.
THERE'S NEW MEN'S BRACKETOLOGY. This is interesting: ESPN's Joe Lundari lists Iowa as a four seed in the Tournament. At the five seed, on the line above? Iowa State. How about a rematch of the Cy-Hawk series on a neutral court in the NCAA Tournament?

On Feb. 8, former Hawkeye Acie Earl will be doing a book signing of his new book (How To Play Overseas) at Prairie Lights in Iowa City.

BUT FERENTZ'S SALARY! Iowa Athletics is making that money. Making record amounts of money that is. Interesting that football saw an increase in revenue even though there was more empty seats than in years past. Fran is bringing in the fans and hoops is helping a great deal. Iowa doesn't pay the football assistant coaches a lot compared to the rest of the league. That's going to have to change. Also, McCaffery's rebuilding of the basketball program is going to mean a raise too. Maybe we're lucky Rick Barnes is having a bounce back season at Texas or that UCLA found what's his face last year. Fran could be in high demand this April. Luckily, Barta appears to have some coin to pony up.
AND SOMEONE WAS STEALING SOME MONEY. An athletic department accountant was fired by Iowa for stealing funds from the Hawkeye Express ticket sales. Iowa fans can park at the Coral Ridge Mall and ride the Hawkeye Express to Kinnick Stadium on football game days. A round trip ticket costs $12 for adults. Kathleen Willier assumed Iowa wouldn't miss the $66,000 she allegedly stole.
