THE TITANS HAD LITTLE TROUBLE RUNNING THE BALL. Tennessee running back Chris Johnson blasted through the Washington Redskin defense early in the game for a 58-yard touchdown. His backup, newly acquired Shonn Greene, added a 19-yard TD of his own. Here's the clip:
A PAIR OF FORMER HAWKEYE QUARTERBACKS GOT THEIR SHOT FRIDAY NIGHT. It wasn't pretty for either Ricky Stanzi or James Vandenberg. Both quarterbacks are fourth string and need strong preseason performances for a chance at making the final roster cut. Neither had much help from the offensive line. Stanzi finished the fourth quarter for the Kansas City Chiefs 5-for-12 passing and 42 yards. James Vandenberg finished his night with the Minnesota Vikings 3-for-3 passing for 19 yards. Despite the 100% completion percentage for JVB, he failed to move the offense down the field.
A PAIR OF HAWKEYE RECEIVERS WERE AGAIN IN ACTION FOR THE DOLPHINS. Marvin McNutt got the start in Miami's first preseason game but did not make a catch. Still, he called his first career start "amazing." He had one catch Friday night for 17 yards against the Jaguars. Keenan Davis did not make a catch.
A PAIR OF FORMER HAWKEYE OFFENSIVE LINEMEN PLAYED TOGETHER. Matt Tobin is currently the second-string left tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles. Both Tobin and Julian Vandervelde saw playing action on the same line. Tobin at tackle, Vandervelde at center.
A PAIR OF HAWKEYE LINEBACKERS RECORD A FEW TACKLES FOR THE PATRIOTS. Jeff Tarpinian edged A.J. Edds slightly with four tackles against the Eagles. Edds ended the game with three tackles and an assisted tackle. Despite playing well and providing a spark on special teams, one Patriots blog thinks both former Hawkeyes still get cut.
NEW YORK GIANTS. Brandon Myers had one catch for the Giants for 20 yards. Tyler Sash might be playing for a roster spot and if so, he's going to make it hard to get for the to cut him. Sash had four tackles against the Steelers Saturday night including one for a safety. He also recovered a fumble.
TWEETS.

Will chart it on re-watch, but seems like Karl Klug has been playing a lot of DE tonight, kicking inside some (pass downs?) #Titans

Of the #Redskins two second-year guards, Adam Gettis looked much better than Josh LeRibeus

Anyone see that @Shaun_Prater punt return blocking to set up that touchdown?

Dallas Clark signing with @Ravens pleases me. One of favorite players I've met in 10 years on the job. Hope it works out.
