FOOTBALL IS JUST OVER 80 DAYS AWAY. Iowa released their group ticket option and single game ticket plan. We also now know the desired dress code for select home game this season. The opener with Northern Illinois is the "Be Bold Wear Gold" game. Michigan State is the "Black and Gold Spirit" game. And Wisconsin is the annual "Black Out" game.

MIKE HLAS DOESN'T LIKE THE PRICE TAG FOR MISSOURI STATE. $55 is too much per Hlas, of the Cedar Rapids Gazette. This is a throw-away game that's usually reserved for the opener. Remember, these type of games will stay on the schedule according to Gary Barta.

"IT'S NOT IN OUR BEST INTEREST." Playing more BCS opponents that is, per Kirk Ferentz. He discussed the future nine game Big Ten schedule and Iowa State. He doesn't see Iowa as a team that would benefit from playing more than 10 BCS programs. Ferentz added this about the annual Cy-Hawk game:

"I've had 24 years in this program, and it's hard to envision us not playing them. It does mean an awful lot to the state. It's unique in our situation because the other schools in our conference that have something like this, they're playing other Big Ten schools. It's pretty much true nationally. Pitt-Penn State used to be a big thing, but it's a little unique in that we've got two different conferences represented."

YOU'VE NOW SEEN WHAT VEGAS THINKS OF IOWA'S UPCOMING CHANCES. Athlon Sports released their predictions for the Big Ten Conference and they have Iowa finishing last in the Legends Division. The Hawks are predicted to get one win in conference play and again finish the season (4-8). Well Athlon, I have this very original piece for you that I can't seem to get out of my head:

I got this feeling on the summer day when you were gone.
I crashed my car into the bridge. I watched, I let it burn.
I threw your shit into a bag and pushed it down the stairs.
I crashed my car into the bridge.

I don't care, I love it. I don't care.

(4-8), AGAIN? Would that mean the end of Kirk Ferentz at Iowa? He's on the hot seat according to the Orlando Sentinel. Ferentz seems to find his name on one of these lists on nearly a yearly basis. That giant contract and the mediocre seasons will do that. There's that buyout that barely gets a mention here. It should, it's a giant elephant.

AT LEAST PHIL PARKER IS PLEASED. He visited with the Big Ten Network for a short interview about the upcoming season. Parker mentioned Carl Davis as a guy to watch up front. He also added Dominic Alvis as a guy that "stood out." Parker also notes the strong safety position is still up for grabs between Nico Law and Johnny Lowdermilk.

ABOUT LOWDERMILK. He's the son of former Buckeye Kirk Lowdermilk. If he earns the starting spot this Fall get used to hearing that during every broadcast. Nico Law is the fan favorite to earn the starting spot but Lowdermilk looked good during the two outings fans get to see this Spring. He said,

"I'm definitely getting a better feel of it. The game's slowing down, and I like the physical part of it. You're a little closer to the line of scrimmage, not as much in pass coverage as the free. I probably like that a little bit more."

THE FOOTBALL ROSTER HAS BEEN UPDATED. All of Iowa's new additions now have numbers. Reggie Spearman gets the #6 at linebacker. Leroy Smith wore a single-digit. Was he the last linebacker/defensive end to do so? Also, there was rumor of punter Jonny Mullings moving on. He's not listed on the latest roster. Connor Kornbrath, don't get hurt.

IOWA ANNOUNCED THE FOOTBALL TEAM LEADERSHIP GROUP. Six seniors lead the group. Two quarterbacks were selected: Jake Rudock and C.J. Beathard. While Cody Sokol isn't part of the group don't read too much into this and his chances winning the starting position.
