IOWA FOOTBALL HAS THE WEEK OFF. And there wasn't the weekly press conference from Iowa City. Kirk Ferentz did still talk to the media on the weekly Big Ten teleconference. He also invited the media into the Hawkeye practice facility for a Q&A session on Wednesday. Here's audio from the Gazette. So, did we learn anything from those?

Bye week No. 2 -- Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz (via Marc Morehouse)
THE PLAYERS SPOKE TOO. Marc Morehouse has video of Jake Rudock, Brett Van Sloten, Christian Kirksey and James Morris. Earlier in the week, the Big Ten Network talked to Mark Weisman. Nothing earth shattering from anyone but there's still nuggets of information in there.
NOVEMBER TO REMEMBER IS THE THEME. Because a December to Remember has already been trademarked by Lexus. Iowa football has two remaining games for the 2013 regular season. We talked briefly last week about the importance of those games. The Hawkeyes can erase the memories of a horrible 2012 season. A strong finish will determine Iowa's bowl game and define how we'll remember Iowa in 2013.
CONGRATS.

WHAT DO THE COACHES DO? They go out and recruit. The day after Adonis Jennings became one of four recruits to de-commit from Rutgers, Chris White was in New Jersey. Jennings decided to open his recruiting and recently took an official visit to Iowa. It was after an unofficial trip to Pitt the Rutgers coaching staff told Jennings there's no longer an offer for him. Rumors swirled that Iowa was recruiting Rutgers' 4-star quarterback commit Tyler Wiegers but he quickly shot those down and confirmed his commitment to Rutgers.
The Hawkeye staff has been handing out offers while on their bye week and east coast swing. Iowa offered 2015 4-star OT prospect Richie Petibon, 2015 4-star wide receiver Jabari Greenwood, 2015 DB Marcus Lewis and 2016 OT Jauan Williams.

FRAN MCCAFFERY'S TEAM ALSO IS 3-0. Iowa hosted Maryland Eastern Shore. This happened:

The Iowa men cruised to victory, 109-63. I''m not sure there's much to learn from last night's game. It was fun to watch but Maryland Eastern Shore was over matched. Fran McCaffery did say in the post game interview that Mike Gesell has moved back to point guard and Dev Marble back to shooting guard. Marble took over the point last season and looked good doing it during Iowa's NIT run. It's interesting that it lasted all of three games this season.
MORE HIGHLIGHTS.

BOTH HOOPS TEAMS SIGNED NEW RECRUITS. The early signing day for basketball recruiting was Wednesday. McCaffery signed two recruits; Brady Ellingson and Dominique Uhl. Scott Dochterman has a profile of Ellingson on the Gazette blog.
Lisa Bluder signed four:
