It's Not Plagiarism If You Link To It: Michigan State Stomps The Iowa Hawkeyes

Remember that feeling after the win at Minnesota? Well, this is the opposite.

Matthew Holst

UGH.

THERE'S VIDEO. If you care to relive that.

KIRK FERENTZ TALKED ABOUT THE LOSS. Here's the transcript and video. Iowa has a thin layer of talent and the injuries mounted against Michigan State throughout the game. Ferentz says he hopes Mark Weisman, Dominic Alvis, Kevonte Martin-Manley, Brandon Scherff, Carl Davis and Christian Kirksey will be fine by next week. Scherff, Davis and Kirksey were able to return to the field. Ferentz doesn't believe Weisman or Martin-Manley's injuries are long-term.

Ferentz gave credit to MSU for their outstanding defense and better than expected offense. Ferentz was also asked about Michigan State's successful fake punt,

We may never try to return one again. It was our thinking -- try and get to the return, and to their credit they made a good call and that cost us a field goal.

THE PLAYERS SPOKE TOO. Marc Morehouse has video of post game interviews with Mark Weisman, Tanner Miller, Damon Bullock, Carl Davis, Jake Rudock, Anthony Hitchens, James Morris and Brandon Scherff. The topics include their overall health and the punt fake.

LET'S GET RECAP-Y. Iowa had a lead heading into halftime. The Hawkeye offense failed to emerge from the locker room for the second half. Michigan State frustrated the Iowa rushing attack. The Hawks had rushed for over 200 yards in every game this season but were held to under 30 against MSU. Jake Rudock says the Hawks "failed to execute" and Michigan State's defense was as good as advertised and had a big hand in Iowa's failures.

FOOLED AGAIN! Scott Dochterman called it the play of the game. Mark Dantonio calls it the Hey Diddle Diddle. Michigan State had 4th and 7 from Iowa's 37 and you know the rest. That was the sixth successful fake punt ran against Iowa since 2010.
