THE VACATION STAYCATION IS OVER. The news is like the mail, ya know. It never stops. After a couple weeks to rest the gears it's back to that grind. So, where were we?

IOWA HONORS CHRIS STREET.

IOWA DEFEATS WISCONSIN. (There will be a fabulous recap here later.) The Hawkeyes fittingly needed free throws to knock off the Badgers for the third time in a row. Head Hawkeye coach Fran McCaffery presented the Street family with the game ball following the game. It was emotional evening in Iowa City and dammit it's great to be a Hawkeye.

MCCAFFERY TALKED ABOUT THE TEAM WIN. Here is the transcript and video. Fran talked his team's defense, Marble's leadership and said about the atmosphere at Carver-Hawkeye,

There was an energy level in the building that I've never seen before. I've been in a lot of buildings in my playing and coaching career, and nothing like that. There's not a doubt in my mind, there was a difference.

IOWA'S WIN GIVES THEIR NCAA TOURNAMENT RESUME A BOOST.

IOWA FOOTBALL IS HOLDING "JUNIOR DAY" TODAY. And there may be another verbal commitment for the 2014 recruiting class coming.

Marc Morehouse talked with the recruiting gurus at Hawkeye Report to get the scoop on Iowa's annual "junior day" event. Tom Kakert gave M'House a full rundown of which prospects were in town. There's also updates on the 2013 recruiting class that will wrap up in a couple of weeks.

TOMORROW, SCHOOL STARTS BACK. With that there could be some hot coaching rumor news. Could be. From a current player, "I've heard rumors but haven't been told anything officially." With everyone back, football strength and conditioning gets going again too.

Marc Morehouse had a recap of what's happened thus far in the football offices. David Raih has a desk job at Texas Tech. D.J. Hernandez has Hawkeye'd his Twitter account. Certainly, more to follow but for now, because rumors are fun, study up on these two coaching profiles (rumor number one and number two).

FORMER HAWKEYES SHOWED OFF THEIR SKILLS. Matt Tobin, Greg Castillo, James Ferentz, James Vandenberg, Micah Hyde and Keenan Davis all played in post-season all-star games yesterday. I'm currently unable to find a box score for either game but did watch some of both. Keenan Davis started at WR and saw an early target in the redzone but the pass fell short. Micah Hyde started at corner on defense and James Ferentz was second team center. In the Raycom game, Matt Tobin started at left guard and looked pretty good out there. James Vandenberg came off the bench and led his team to a touchdown drive (handoff). Greg Castillo played quite a bit at right corner. That's it for our guys until the combine and Pro Day at Iowa. There will surely be news about their workouts and predicted draft position (if any) throughout the upcoming weeks leading up to the NFL Draft in April.

HAWKEYE HOOPS SIGNEE PETER JOK IS A MCDONALDS ALL-AMERICAN NOMINEE. Jok was nominated to play in the annual McDonald's All-American game at the end of the high school season. There's still a lot of names on the list so don't yet freak out says Twitter guy Tony Roe. Jok followed up his nomination by scoring 41 points in an overtime game Friday night versus Urbandale.
