SB Nation BlogPoll College Football Rankings 2011

Hutchins focused on Ohio State this week, even as voters were equally varied in their opinions of Florida State and Oklahoma. We put OSU at #2, mostly because they've beaten two FBS-level teams by a combined 61 points, both of those teams have won their other game, and one of them (Central Florida) was really impressive in that win. Ohio State's margin nearly matches LSU, against two teams that look marginally better. That UCF win will probably decrease in value over the season -- it is UCF, after all, and this happens every season to them -- and OSU's conference schedule will be their end, if this week's games are any indication.

Florida State is knocked by us for playing 2 FCS teams -- only FSU and Indiana have taken that route -- but still make the poll because outscoring your opponents 124-3 in seven quarters would be impressive if they were facing high schoolers. Oklahoma is interesting: Big name, big predictions this season, but a lackluster week one win over UTEP and an FCS game just isn't enough at this point.

The rest of the poll is meh whatever. Bama deserves #1. Everything else will eventually fall into place.
