It's Not Plagiarism If You Link To It: Iowa Needs A Turnaround Season

ICYMI:

Iowa Football Preseason Camp - Week 3 (via GoHawksTV)

IOWA IS APPARENTLY CLOSE TO IRRELEVANCY. Steve Greenberg writes that Ferentz's job at Iowa is safe but the "psyche" of the program is fragile. So is the national perception of Hawkeye football. James Ferentz cites Iowa's empty trophy case where rivalry trophies would sit. It's motivation to James who says, "that's a loud reminder of where we are as a program."

STICKING WITH THE SPORTING NEWS. They published their preseason all-Big Ten teams. Three Hawkeyes make the first team. Both Keenan Davis and C.J. Fiedorowicz are named on the offense side. On defense, Micah Hyde is the lone Hawkeye representative.

STEWART MANDEL DOESN'T THINK THE TURNAROUND HAPPENS THIS SEASON. He writes he doesn't "see much reason for optimism with these Hawkeyes." Mandel cites the impact of AIRBHG on Iowa's offense and asks if it's too much to overcome. He views Iowa as a "six or seven-win" team but notes this could be the year the Hawkeyes do the opposite of what the media expects.

WE ARE ALMOST A WEEK AWAY FROM THE SEASON OPENER. Mike Hlas wants us to remember the last meeting between Iowa and NIU at Solider Field. It was an ugly game that opened what would become an ugly season. The good news? Jake Christensen isn't starting for the 2012 Hawkeyes.

APPARENTLY, DJK IS AN EXPERT ON IOWA FOOTBALL. After all, he did spend a portion of his life on campus and around some of the current players. DJK is joining Matt Cozzi on KRUI to hold a weekly podcast discussing Hawkeye football.

IOWA'S NEXT STAR ON THE OFFENSIVE LINE HAS YET TO START A GAME. Austin Blythe received recruiting interest from Florida and Oregon. They were too late to the party writes Marc Morehouse. Blythe will start next week at right guard as a redshirt freshman. He'll be the first redshirt frosh to do so since Riley Reiff and, well, Reiff turned out to be okay.
