INPIYLTI: PTL Recap; Hawkeye Football Picked To Finish Fourth In Legends Division

PTL Video #1 7/22/2012 HawkeyeDrive.com (via brendanstiles)

THE PRIME LEAGUE PLAYOFFS STARTED YESTERDAY. There was an upset as Aaron White's previously winless team defeated the #1 seed last night. White had a difficult shooting night but still ended with 22 points. His team was led by Eric May who added 24 points and 8 rebounds. Jarrod Uthoff had a strong game with 18 points and 13 boards in the losing effort.

Game two proved to be a battle in the paint. Former Hawkeye Jaryd Cole had 34 points. Also with 34 points was Cole's teammate Melsahn Basbae. Melsahn added 19 rebounds for a double-double. Also having a monster game in a losing effort was Gabe Olaseni with 31 points.

The championship game is Tuesday night at 9pm. Mediacom Connections will carry the game live on television.

ERIC MAY CALLED HIS SHOT. Per Pat Harty, May told teammates all week, "I'm like, ‘We're going to win this game." Harty described May's game as "highlighted by two rim-rattling dunks." It was White though that dropped in a buzzer beating game winning shot.

WITH BIG TEN MEDIA DAYS APPROACHING, BIG TEN WRITERS RELEASED A POLL. If you recall, the Big Ten no longer issues a preseason poll. Several Big Ten writers - twenty-four to be exact - got together to vote on their own preseason poll. The Hawkeyes are picked to finish fourth in the Legends Division. Wisconsin and Michigan were both picked to meet in the Big Ten Championship game. For a complete list of voters click here.

MARC MOREHOUSE HAS AN INTERVIEW WITH KIRK FERENTZ. Kirk talks about his sons and his experience coaching them. It was a forty minute interview and Morehouse's posts also include video. It's a two part piece, here is part I and click here for part II. I highly recommend reading/watching this.

C.J. FIEDOROWICZ IS READY FOR A BIG YEAR. Last year they ran 5-7 yard routes, this year he'll run 12 yard routes Fiedorowicz tells the Northwest Herald. CJF also mentions that Iowa will throw the ball 60% of the time versus running the ball 60% of the time as in years past.

IOWA WINS OTE'S BIG TEN'S BEST TEAMS TOURNAMENT. The 2002 Hawkeye team matched against 2008 Penn State in Off Tackle Empire's Best of the Big Ten simulation tournament. The computer simulated a Penn State victory over the Hawks, 27-24. As we now know all of those 2008 Penn State wins are now vacated and that makes Iowa the champs (wink).
