GO SOWINSKI. Iowa senior Erik Sowinski ran a personal best on Wednesday to earn a spot in the NCAA Track and Field 800 meter championship race. He ran another personal best Friday night but it wasn't enough to win the race. Sowinski did finish second place and earned a silver medal in the event. Up next for Sowinski, the Olympic Trials.

THREE OTHER HAWKEYES FINISHED IN THE TOP 15 OF THEIR EVENT. Hawkeye senior McKenzie Melander finished in 14th place in the 5000 meter run. Senior Troy Doris finished 5th in the triple jump and junior Matt Beyers finished 10th in the javelin.

A COUPLE OF MORE HAWKEYES WILL DO SOME RACING. Not in the NCAA Track Championships but at Hawkeye Downs Speedway, and for charity. Head Hawkeye wrestling coach Tom Brands and Mark Ironside will strap on the seatbelts and helmets for a Legends Car Race this Friday evening.

DON'T EXPECT TO HEAR ANYTHING FROM IOWA ABOUT GREG GARMON ANYTIME SOON. Garmon was supposed to report to Iowa City today. Ferentz won't speak to the media again until Big Ten Media days late in July. That could be when we hear if there's a suspension or other discipline.

GREG DAVIS MAKES A LIST OF 10 COACHES EVERYONE SHOULD ROOT FOR. Per Coachingsearch.com, Davis is a coach that has been doubted and sometimes harshly criticized in his career. He's back in the coaching game after a year off following an ousting at Texas.

HAWKEYE FOOTBALL IS FAMILIAR WITH DSM LINCOLN PROSPECTS. Lincoln head coach Tommy Mihalovich's program produced Jordan Bernstine and Adam Robinson. Now, Mihalovich has another prospect in Trevon Young that according to Luke Feddersen will decided between Iowa and Iowa State soon. Young is not yet rated by Rivals and shows offers from Iowa, Iowa State and South Dakota State.

AARON WHITE IS GETTING MORE STRONG PUB. Last week there was a link that mentioned that White might have moved his way into the Top 100 recruits for his class. Now, Yahoo Sports is picking White as a frontcourt player that could become a star next hoops season.
