INP: Twas The Night Before Christmas And All Over The Web Are Links About Hawkeyes

And that's as far as I got with that rhyme.

WE SURVIVED A LOT IN THE LAST WEEK! There was snow-my-god in the Midwest and the Mayan calendar thing. But, our favorite hoops teams smashed through some lousy opponents in the mean time and we carried on. With another Christmas upon us I'd like to take a second to write thanks for reading and have a very Merry Christmas!

SLAM IT DOWN BIG MAN.

IOWA FINISHED THE NON-CON SCHEDULE WITH A BEAT DOWN STRAIGHT OUTTA COPPIN. And it wasn't due to three point shooting. Iowa finished the game 0-17 from beyond the three point line. They did, however, manage to work on dunking the basketball.

Iowa's head coach Fran McCaffery spoke about his team's 80-50 victory following the game (video). Fran points to his team's 21 assists as crucial to overcome his team's turnovers and poor three point shooting. He added that Melsahn Basabe injured his ankle but is a tough kid. Finally, McCaffery said his team will be ready for Indiana.

SPEAKING OF INDIANA. The Hoosiers are next on the men's schedule. Iowa didn't get any favors with the beginning of their Big Ten schedule. Iowa will host Indiana next Monday and then travel to Michigan followed by a game with Michigan State. About the upcoming challenges of conference play, Eric May says, "I can't wait. Obviously the Big Ten is a obviously a great conference, and I've been excited for the Big Ten to start since the beginning of the year. We've got a tough opener, and I'm ready for it."

THE HAWKEYES HAVE ONE BELIEVER IN THE LOCAL MEDIA. The Cedar Rapids Gazette's Mike Hlas is predicting a 11-7 conference record. Hlas believes Iowa's Big Ten schedule isn't as tough as it appears and points to "two games against Nebraska, Northwestern, Penn State and Purdue."

PRE-SEEDS HAVE BEEN RELEASED FOR THE MIDLANDS WRESTLING TOURNAMENT. Hawkeye Cory Clark is number one at 125 pounds. Former Hawkeyes Montell Marion is #1 at 149 pounds and Dan Dennis is #2 at 133.
