That... was fun. Really damn fun.

Not just the winning part -- although that was fantastic, of course -- but the action, the atmosphere, the drama. If you want someone to understand why college wrestling can be so much fun and so exciting, THAT is the dual to show them. There were offensive fireworks from both sides, the Carver-Hawkeye crowd of 15,000-plus was electric, and it came down to the very last match of the evening. Hard to ask for more. Hell, the heavyweight match featured OVER TEN MATCH POINTS. That's insane.

We'll break this meet down in much greater detail tomorrow, but for now: we celebrate. McDonough, St. John, and Evans displayed some serious grit in scoring late wins, Ramos brought the dominance, Ballweg brought some slick matwork, and Telford brought his saddle. And Iowa brought their winning boots, 22-16. Woo. Penn State's still a terrifying team come tournament time, but for now we'll savor this win.
