Hate to Say I Told You So (All Right!), or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Illini

Sun Nov 11, 2007 at 12:43:20 PM EDT

"Ich bin ein Illini"

I'm Hawkeye State.  You might remember me from such posts as "An Open Letter to Penn State, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan."  You know, the one that brought all the knuckle-dragging crazies out of the woodwork?  Yeah, that one.

Well, Illinois read.  The Apocalypse has been averted.  All hail Ron Zook.

We will get to the bowl implications later, but for all you mouth-breathers, a little math:

Iowa > Illinois > tOSU

Deal with that.  I'll be over here, working on my Jack Nicholson.

Bring it on, motherfuckers.

    First of all, you're 6-5...

    OSU > Wisconsin > Iowa
    OSU > PSU > Iowa
    OSU > Purdue > Iowa
    Everyone > Indiana > Iowa

Go back into your hole into you can beat Iowa State.

    What's OSU's record against Iowa all-time?

    44-14-3....

If it's going to bring out wonderful people like the one who posted right above me, I think you need to make fun of OSU in every post.  That's hilarious.

Taking my weekly Monday visit to bhgp, I wonder at when it turned into an Illinois blog. Not one, but two posts since Saturday basking in the glory of the Illini victory. Awesome.

And props to them. They took it to us for 60 minutes on the field.

I do find it interesting, however, that this site, which loves to chastise Buckeye fans for being passionate about their team and call out all types of dispicable behavior from said fans, takes such obvious pleasure from another team's loss. Even going so far as to beg for it weeks prior, under the guise of defending the conference's bowl honor, or some such nonsense. I have been around Ohio State fans all my life and have yet to see one take pleasure in an Iowa loss that was not to Ohio State. So, as an Ohio State fan, you'll have to excuse me if I get a chuckle out of all of this. Especially when I hear other fans talk about how blind we are in our hate.

But hey, props on getting bowl eligible. Now hyou will have an opportunity to defend that conference honor yourselves.
