Iowa Hawkeyes Game Threads
WE'RE TALKIN' FOOTBALL: NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME LIVEGAMEOPENTHREAD
Time for college football's last gasp before going away 'til September.
Yes, it's a rematch and, yes, the first game wasn't the most thrilling if you like, uh, points, but these are still two deeply talented teams. It should be a good game. And if not, well, there's other stuff on TV too. The game's on ESPN now.
The standard open threading rules apply: no links to illegal online streams, no porn, no politics, no religion, no slurs, no douchebaggery.
SUGAR BOWL LIVEGAMEOPENTHREAD
Iowa's record against BCS bowl teams is stellar. Since 2007, Iowa has gone 4-3 against teams that eventually played in the Rose, Sugar, Fiesta, or Orange Bowl or the BCS National Championship game (and that's with an 0-2 mark in 2010). That includes a 1-0 record against tonight's opponents, as Michigan faces Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl (7:30 CST, ESPN). The Wolverines opened as three-point favorites; that has comically been whittled down to a pick 'em.
Anyway, open thread is open. No racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, illegal internet streams of the game, general douchebaggery, or -- this is especially important tonight -- NO POLITICS. I know it's Caucus Night. Go elsewhere for discussion.
LIVEGAMEOPENTHREAD: Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Boise State Broncos
It's not too often we play a fanbase in basketball that is even more distracted than us, but Boise State football (perhaps you've heard of them) is playing Arizona State in the Las Vegas Bowl tonight, so my guess is they are a bit preoccupied. Bully for us!
Standard open thread rules apply, of course: No illegal streams of the game, no racism, no sexism, no homophobia, and just don't be an asshole.
Iowa vs. Iowa State Basketball LIVEGAMEOPENTHREAD
Yeah, it's not going so well.
Here's your open thread for the evening: Iowa-ISU hoops, UNI-Montana football on ESPN, whatever.
The standard open threading rules apply: no links to illegal online streams, no porn, no politics, no religion, no slurs, no douchebaggery.
SUNDAY OPEN THREAD: Iowa vs. ISU Wrestling, Iowa Football Bowl Talk, Etc.
Here's your Sunday open thread. The Iowa-Iowa State wrestling meet gets going in a few minutes on Mediacom Connections 22 (Iowa only) as well as the usual radio sources.
But if you want to talk about bowl games, BCS match-ups, NFL games, whatever -- go to town.
The usual open threading rules apply.
WE'RE TALKIN' FOOTBALL: CHAMPIONSHIP GAME SATURDAY PART DOS
Time for the night shift. Wisconsin-Michigan State (7pm CT, FOX) is your B1G game of note; there's also the de facto B12 championship game (Oklahoma-Oklahoma State; 7pm CT, ABC) and the ACC Championship Game (Va Tech-Clemson; 7pm CT, ESPN).
If none of those games tickle your fancy, there's also plenty of hockey and college basketball on various channels, as well as UFC on Spike. Oh, and Cotto-Margarito II on PPV, which figures to be an insane bloodbath.
The usual open threading rules apply.
WE'RE TALKIN' EARLY GAMES: CHAMPIONSHIP SATURDAY OPEN THREAD THE FIRST
Only one more day of regular season college football to go this year. Which is sad.
The day gets going with the Conference USA title game (Houston v. Southern Miss) on ABC, some Big East games on the ESPNs (don't laugh! Okay, you can laugh a little bit), and Iowa St-Kansas St on FSN. And if you're not into CFB action, there's a pretty tasty-looking basketball game (UNC-Kentucky) on CBS.
We'll have a separate game thread for the Iowa-Brown hoopyball game later.
The usual rules of open threading apply: no links to illegal online streams, no porn, no politics, no religion, no slurs (including calling people or things "gay"), yadda yadda yadda.
WE'RE TALKIN' FOOTBALL: NIGHT GAMES ACTION AHOY
