Iowa LB James Morris Wins Lott Impact Player of the Week Award

The Hawkeyes' senior middle linebacker takes home a weekly prize for blowing up Northwestern.

Iowa senior middle linebacker James Morris won the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week Award for his performance against Northwestern Saturday.  Morris recorded eight tackles, two sacks, and a fumble recovery in Iowa's 17-10 overtime win over the Wildcats.  It was also enough to earn him Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season.  Morris becomes the first Big Ten player to win the Lott Award this season

Morris has been out of his mind this season.  Through eight games, he leads Iowa in tackles for loss, sacks, and interceptions. His 64 tackles are second on the team, behind only Anthony Hitchens.

Morris entered the season 16th on the list of all-time tackles leaders at Iowa, and has a chance of entering the top 5 by the end of the year.  He would need 60 tackles in Iowa's last six games to pass Chad Greenway into fifth.

The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, which sponsors the weekly award, will donate $1,000 to the University of Iowa general scholarship fund.
