Like many of you, I have had DirecTV as my "cable" provider for the past several years. And as seems to be the general consensus, I've been pretty dang happy with their service. It's a bit pricey after the intro rate, like all cable carriers, but I have always had stellar service from this company that just seems to be one of the few that really cares about its customers instead of quarterly sales number calls (hi Zappos!) Well, as you may have heard, DirecTV is going to be acquired by AT&T for ~$50B, or in reality closer to ~$65B if you include the debt they're assuming. And it's not looking likely to be stopped by anti-trust laws. So I assume things will be as per usual for a while, but you'll see customer un-friendly tactics start to creep in over time. It's the way these things go, especially when assumed by that most evil of company categories: consumer electronic media delivery.
