Future of Iowa Wrestling

I love Iowa Wrestling, but I am concerned about what I believe is a trend that has developed over the last several years. To often it seems as though our wrestlers just are not ready to wrestle. Case and point this years Nationals. I feel our guys only looked ready the second session. They were firery and got after people. I remember watching the Brands brothers in high school and college and you never saw them look like they had an off day. I miss their attitude shoves of an opponent as they went out of bounds. Or watching an Iowa wrestler run back to center circle after going out of bounds and their opponent look at them like how big is your gas tank. IMO, we have lost the "Intimidation Factor". Maybe I am a homer, but I truly believe we had the talent to win Nationals this year, but in to many cases, we came out flat and looked completely unprepared. There is no denying that our coaches (Tom & Terry) have enough fire in their belly to push a freight train up a hill, but something is not right in the program because that fire is not getting from the coach, to the wrestler (accept Tony, and a couple of others), to the mat. I hope it gets figured out sooner than later. We talk about "The Iowa Style", but until we regain that "Intimidation Factor", I don't think we will see a team of "Iowa Style" wrestlers bring home a Team Title. congrats to Tony Ramos! Will miss your style and stare. Thanks for the memories and good luck in the future.
