We have reached the halfway point of B1G basketball season which is as good a time as any to review predictions. Before the season I drew up a Win-Loss Matrix based entirely on assumptions about the conference. I hadn't yet subscribed to KenPom, and didn't use any sort of data to help me reach the predictions. I was just having a bit of fun, and justifying the time spent charting it by putting the matrix somewhere. Now that the teams have played we can start filling in the real matrix, and maybe making assumptions about how the B1G Tourney seeds will shake out.
Wins are color coded this time. Follow the link above, or click the image for details.
Just halfway thru, and the craziness of the B1G is apparent in the number of different colors represented. Michigan is holding court at home as expected, while Sparty slipped up already. OSU, and Wisconsin being not as great as I'd expected has thrown everything into a mess as they are gifting wins to teams assumed to be terrible like Northwestern, Penn State, and Nebraska. Iowa's also been better than expected, and there's no question that Iowa finishing 6th now would be a tremendous disappointment.
I'll probably post another after the regular season just to see how it all shakes out. Hopefully there's 9 more yellow boxes in the matrix at that point.
