New Conference Championship Format

I know Stewy Mandel is not a popular writer here but he answered a very good question in his mail bag column this week. The question was whether large, 14-team conferences should do away with divisions and go with an 8-game slate with 3 permanent opponents and 5 rotating ones. This would allow a home and home with every team each four years. The top two teams would play for the championship based on established tie breaker rules, assuring the two best teams play. Currently this is not allowed by the NCAA, it requires divisions to determine championship qualifiers, but it could be changed soon.

I like this idea because I'm concerned the east division with all of the big names, Michigan, Ohio State, PSU could over shadow the west, especially if they dominate the championship games. Question. Who should be Iowa's three permanent rivals?

My picks, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
