The first round of March Madness is Friday, March 21 and Sunday, March 23 in St. Louis. If Iowa plays here, I am looking into putting together a St. Louis craft beer tour for any BHGP'ers who show up for the game (or just show up, game or no).
St. Louis has an amazing craft beer scene, and we have connections with a lot of the local breweries. I'm thinking we'd start at Bridge Tap House which features lovely 4 ounce sampling glasses and 55 beers on tap. This where YOU CAN GET FREE BEER because I will buy a round. I might even put together a sampler flight, I'm still ruminating.
Next, we'd hit a few more local spots, probably Six Row, maybe Perennial and Urban Chestnut, and perhaps finishing up the Schlafly Tap Room, where you'll get the best Schlafly products they don't ship out of state.
There are also "brewpub shuttles" in St. Louis that will literally ferry you from craft brewery to craft brewery. If we get enough people, I'll look into reserving one for the evening, so can you have your drunk ass hauled around St. Louis in the company of your BHGP brethren. I'd be happy to recommend hotels too if you all want to stay in the same place.
As for timing, I assume Iowa would play the first night (Friday the 21st ) and, win or lose, you will want to drink, so we'd do it that night.
I need a rough headcount, so if you are at all interested, please vote below with your appropriate interest level.
P.S. I have it on good authority that if Iowa plays in St. Louis a well-respected craft beer loving member of the Iowa sports media may be joining us. I'm also working angles on Iowa football guys from St. Louis.
