Hey all. As I posted in HamDam earlier this week, I had an odd, but wonderful, encounter with a member of the Hawkeye family.
In case you missed it, here it is: My dad, my uncle and I were out walking a trail to water fall nearly three miles off the beaten path in Yellowstone. A lady wearing a black sweatshirt emblazoned with a gold tigerhawk approached us. My dad, also a huge Hawkeye fan, asked if she was from Iowa. She said, "No, we are from Delaware but that's where our son, Bobby, wrestles heavyweight." We chatted a little about him, they asked us to take their picture by the falls and we then went our separate ways. Encountering someone from Delaware as well as someone wearing a tigerhawk all the way in Montana are strange enough but to have them connected to a well known student-athlete to Hawkeye fans is unbelievable.
But this led me to think: What are some other unusual encounters others have had with their respective fanbases? So if you would like to, please disclose any unique interactions you've had with someone from your fanbase. It could be bumping into another fan far away, rubbing shoulders with an former Hawkeye or just catching a "Go Hawks" when you least expected it. Stories like these make me realize and appreciate the connections sports can make.
