Today the University of Iowa was ranked as the #1 Party School in the Nation! Congrats! You can read all about it here.
As a fan and alumni of that other University in Iowa with 31,000+ students, I would like to be the first to congratulate the University of Iowa in its most prestigious achievement which resulted from placing first in the category titled "Lots of hard liquor" and taking fourth in the category titled "Students study the least"; no longer the Bridesmaid, 2013 is YOUR YEAR!
While I'm sure these achievements make fans, current students and Alumni of the University of Iowa proud in that oh-so-classic Hawkeye sort of way, I would like to remind them that they cannot take 100% credit for this illustrious feat! It may come as a surprise to many of you that only 47% of the people that are current U-of-I students are actually from the State of Iowa. Now I'm sure you Hawkeye fans are yelling "WHY DOES THAT MATTER!?!?!" at the computer screen like I can hear you if you're loud enough, and I agree; the question is justified.
I am a fan of giving credit where credit is due. Iowa went WAY further than ISU in their respective basketball tournament, Iowa's wrestling team was
second 5th place to none 4 respectable wrestling teams, and the Iowa Hawkeyes had twice as many wins in 2012 than Iowa State had in 2008! I just want point out that the Universities in Illinois, on the average, have an acceptance rate of around 50%. Northern Illinois and Northwestern are the toughest to get into while University of Illinois and Illinois State both average a bit over 50%.
So yes, go out and RAGE like you are known for! Take 10 shots at Spo-Co; 15 at Brothers! Puke in your Homeless peoples waste buckets! But while you are relishing in the fact that your school is #1 in liquor and #4 in not studying, pour a little Missouri made Hawkeye vodka out for the real Hawkeye party-ers, the bottom 50% of Illinois college-ready students that come equipped with a trust fund and a penchant for binge drinking and making sure EVERYONE knows about it!!
CONGRATS!!! (bout' that time, eh Chaps?)
