I know you've all been out there practicing and trying to get the shovel option to work, and are just itching to try out your new recruiting skills against some real competition. So, it's time to scratch that itch and get the "od" organized and up and running.
For those who are new BHGPMACtion, it is an EA Sports NCAA 14 (PS3) online dynasty open only to BHGPers. This helps to reduce/eliminate some of the "cheese" you may have experienced in other dynasties previously, and therefore makes for a reasonably pleasant (especially if you win) gaming experience. With last year's game, we were close to finishing the 3rd season, and, with an earlier start this season, would hope to go further. It's nice to get into a few seasons so you can start to see those recruits you've worked so hard to get actually see the field.
To try to give all players a fighting chance, we have used the MAC conference teams. The teams are roughly equal and they recruit from the same places. It's also more of a challenge to play with a lower rated team - that 78 rated qb can't quite run or throw like Marcus Mariota.
The league uses twitter and BHGP to communicate, so if you're interested please post and provide your ps3 and twitter id's.
I will set up the dynasty soon, probably Monday or Tuesday. Invitations will be sent to previous players, because I have your info already.
My intention is to use Heisman difficulty for game play and recruiting, but will certainly listen to other ideas. IMO, Heisman punishes a player for stupid mistakes (I make plenty), which is kind of how football is. Yes, occasionally you will face a not very good team that plays out of its mind and beats you, but that's also how football kind of is.
As far as advancing weeks, the intention is at least (that's at least) one game week per calendar week. My feeling is to try to keep things moving a bit faster than last season - may mean that there will be some games that are simmed, but if we all understand this going in hopefully it works out OK.
I will turn "ice the kicker" off, so please don't invest skill points there - any more than necessary.
So, in summary - let's get ready to rumble! Please feel free to post your thoughts & suggestions and hope to see you out on the field.
