As one of the elleventy million posters who helped make this week's "10-yards of duct tape" post plaid, I got to wondering how it compares with other legendary posts or comments on this site. A careful, thoughtful, patient, fairminded man wouldn't be on this site in the first place, but if he were (or, /mind blown, "she" were) then he would look for a way to systematically cull through prior posts for high-volume "recs" and offer a sample for readers to vote on. A poor writer would insert a series of one-sentence paragraphs asking (without stating) whether certain posts were indeed the best (perhaps in a Mr. Optimist / Mr. Pessimist format).
But, my Friends of the Pants, I am fat, drunk, and stupid. So I ask you to nominate or suggest some of the greatest BHGP posts of all time and -- since, by definition you're a better person than me -- please provide a link so folks who haven't enjoyed it yet can go back and read / re-read it.
Off the top of my head you have Pelican Whore, Jeddah, Newark Airport, and a few others that created their own meme. But I'm honestly not sure those were as appreciated at the time as they should have been: it wouldn't surprise me to see them with low rec-counts (genius is often overlooked in its time).
What's the highest rec count anyone can think of? Duct-tape was over 60 last time I checked, which has to be getting close to a record if not holding it outright. The Gif Hurdle-kicking FitzWizard has to be up there, too.
Your thoughts welcome.
