To my second-favorite fanbase (and blog):

Hopefully, unlike at Black Shoe Diaries, folks at BHGP read the Fanshots. My better half is attending a surgery conference at Iowa's Carver College of Medicine in June. The College highlighted Hotel Vetro and Heartland Inn as its recommended accommodations. If anyone has experiences with either of these, would you share your thoughts on which we should use? Or, if you recommend staying elsewhere, would you likewise share?

While the missus will be in labs and lectures most of the week, I'm taking the week off because I never say no to a roadtrip, so any recommendations on things to do and see would be appreciated. I'm going to spend at least one day wandering the campus, but beyond that, I'm all ears for things within a couple hours driving distance (except Chicago).
