Bartending recipes (Extremely off topic. Or possibly completely on topic )

As many of you know, I took a bartending class a little while ago. As part of it, we had to learn how to make over 50 drinks. Many of them are your standards that you don't need a recipe, but some are the a little more complicated.

Now that the class is over, I typed them all out so I could remember them (or find them later). Time to share.

Here's what you need to know; if you are using a pour spout, a 4 count = 1 oz of liquor. Typically the mixers (juices) are in bottles with wider mouths, so the count is cut in half (2 count = 1 oz). If the mixer amount isn't specified, fill it up.

The first step is the glass, straight up implies a martini glass. Or rocks glass without ice. Rocks is a rocks glass with ice. Highball and Collins are just that. In general, ask what you want in there when you're dealing with whiskey and scotch. Vodka and gin less so, but as always, use what you like. If it's straight up, place a small amount of ice in the shaker up, enough to chill the liquor, but not so much it waters it down, then shake (or mix) and strain)

Anything with sour mix gets shaken, same with cream. And don't use milk, it's not thick enough, half and half is acceptable in a pinch. And there is a handy formula for doing shots, it's down at the end. You can turn pretty much anything into a shot using that formula.

The last ingredient, if applicable, is the garnish.

When in doubt, make it blue. People love blue drinks. And Blue Curacao is just tinted triple sec.

If I forgot anything (or it doesn't make sense), let me know. Happy drinking. Oh, and there are some good mixology apps out there, if you don't already have one, get one.
