IOWA CITY, IA -- ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit called this weekend's game against the #22 ranked Wisconsin Badgers "a classic trap-game" for the Iowa Hawkeyes during a recent SBNation interview with BHGP.
"Coach Ferentz has to do a good job of keeping his team focused on the Badgers this weekend. The tendency will be for the Hawks to look ahead to one of the greatest rivalries in college football, Iowa/Purdue," said Herbstreit.
Asked about his team looking ahead, Coach Ferentz explained that "we have to take it one game at a time. There is obviously a lot of emotion that goes into the Purdue game. For players and coaches. Our task this week will be to focus on a very good Wisconsin team. Can't get caught looking ahead."
While the all-time Iowa Wisconsin series sits at 42-42-2, Purdue/Iowa remains one of the iconic matchups in college football. Herbstreit on the matchup: "There is no college football atmosphere that compares to West Lafayette when the Hawks come to town. I can't say Gameday will be there, but don't rule it out."
