Remember that new logo we talked about a few weeks ago? Well, the truth is it's the tip of the iceberg in terms of the changes that are coming to BHGP and SBN. The exact date for those changes to really kick in is still TBD, but it's coming soon. We don't want you to be completely shocked and confused when the webmonkeys flip the switch and the changes kick in, so here's a wonderful preview from Year2 at SBN's great SEC blog, TeamSpeedKills. I was going to do a preview like this myself, but... Year2 knocked it out of the park. I'd really just be plagiarizing him, and that's no fun. So go click that link and check out the preview. The preview screenshots aren't of BHGP (obviously), but they give you a taste of how things will look around here (just imagine our logo and more pics of Mark Weisman avoiding certain death and destruction). Feel free to post impressions and questions in the comments; I'll do my best to answer them. And, look, I know that change can be scary and weird and confusing, but I am excited about these changes. I'm excited about faster-loading pages, I'm excited about reducing the cluttered look on the homepage, I'm excited about the potential graphic impact of the new covers, I'm excited about having StoryStreams (if you've spent any time at one of the SBN regional sites or the SBN homepage, you've seen these), I'm excited about the ability to rearrange the placement of stories and make sure good work isn't simply buried by the churn of new content. There will be a learning curve with these new tools, for you and for us, but ultimately I'm really, truly excited by these changes. And I assure that while we're getting a kickin' new bod, what's under the hood (in terms of content) isn't changing. We'll still be writing the same sorts of posts you've come to love (and/or loathe).
