Hell yeah. We weren't sure this would happen on Friday, IT'S HAPPENING RIGHT NOW: Iowa in the NIT. Iowa drew a #7 seed and will play #2 Dayton on Tuesday at 6:30pm CT. The game's on ESPN. And, thanks to Dayton's home arena being used by the NCAA Tournament, Iowa is not only in the NIT -- they're hosting a game, despite being a #7 seed. So Matt Gatens will get one more curtain call at CHA -- hooray!

There might not be any team in the NIT more excited to be there than Iowa, given how long it's been since Iowa's seen any postseason action. We probably won't be this excited about any NIT berths in the future, but at this very moment, it's very much an accomplishment worth celebrating. Iowa's in the NIT.
