Burgers: The Blue Door off Selby & Fairview has Juicy Lucys, tater tots, and a solid beer lineup. It also has enough room for about 8 people at a time. Eagle Street Saloon across the street from the X has a huge menu, too. And the downside is, of course, it’s across the street from the X.
Along with Black Sheep, you’ll also be right down the street from Cosetta’s. Pizza and a great lineup of Italian food. The downside is that people know it’s there. The lines/waits can be astonishing.

It is nearly impossible to find a seat, this is true.
That’s why the Ran-Ham secret is great. You can usually find a seat there way easier, and it’s super blast from the past and has the dummy-waiter that goes up to the Nook kitchen.
But yeah, I hear ya. It’s just as hard to get a table at Blue Door now, cause the place is so tiny. And Groveland has become my watering hole.

Ok, guys, the GF is driving me batshit crazy...
Paint samples. its hell. This all started when she decided that the house (which is hers, so I really can’t complain there) needed more light, new ceiling fans, painting, and that she wanted a new facade on the fireplace.
So she found a contractor, and then dragged me all over fucking Sacramento looking at stone and brick. Do I care? Well, the old facade was ass ugly – a stucco looking DIY job of the previous owner, and when they started tearing it apart, they found out that it was a 1/2" of stucco on top of… concrete and chicken wire. They had to bring in jackhammers to bust it up (I can’t imagine holding a jackhammer sideways on a ladder against a wall either, but I was at work when they did it).
So, she gets about 28 different shades of paint samples and wants some kind of blah tan that she’s going to paint the entire house. I find a warm dark mustard gold that’s gorgeous and I’ve spent the last three days with her painting samples of the two colors all over the house, next to the new stone fireplace (she went with my stone recommendation, although she keeps saying “this is a 1940s house” – I keep pointing out there ARE NO RULES ON THESE THINGS), and flip flopping between the two colors.
All of her coworkers hate the darker tan/beige/ick, I’m not wild about it, but I think I’ve finally managed to talk her into the warmer dark yellow mustard. Its fucking exhausting to deal with this shit, and I’m ready to start wondering what gun metal tastes like if this goes on any longer. The facelift/painting should be done in a week or so… thank God.

did you try the age-old trick of choosing the most god-awful option?
Or does she know you aren’t really that helpless?

Unfortunately she's a smart girl
Her real issue is the money she’s dropping, not the paint. She just spent 4 grand on landscape lighting in the front and back yards (all LED – there’s a jillion lights and it uses the equivalent of 1 1/2 100 watt bulbs – that’s pretty cool and it looks really, really nice).
The fireplace+electric (two new ceiling fans and recessed lights in 2 of 3 bedrooms, plus some new outlets)+painting all of the rooms except the main bathroom comes to 10 grand.
So her real issue is spending the money and not the paint itself.

Have they posted the OC opening yet?
Be nice to get the clock started on that one if they plan to make a hire before the season starts.

Morehouse just tweeted a link to the On Iowa podcast.
Not quite a BHGPodcast, but I’m hoping it’s going to help sate my urges for coaching search talk. Linky
