Hamsterdam Doesn't Like The OC
Fuck Orange County. Strip malls: Blecch. Gated communities: Terrible. Sterilized, whitewashed society: Boring. Monolithic socioeconomic demographics: Stultifying. And being the namesake/inspiration of some of the worst TV shows and movies of the last 10 years: Unforgivable. Seriously, I dare any of you to be able sit through the entire trailer for Orange County the movie. It's only 2:30 in length, here you go:
Orange County (2002) Official Trailer (via marcdirector)
P.S. - The OC that really, really pisses me off is the one that had Paulie Jr. popularize that awful chinstrap facial hair. That one really gets my goat.
Hamsterdam rules apply as always, have fun and be excellent to eachother.

(I'm on the fence about the Iowa OC so I'm not discussing it because fence-sitters are annoying)
I spent half my life's earnings on wine, women & song. The other half I wasted.
Is it official yet though?
Could be some misinformation. or maybe KF will decide that he doesn’t like people letting news go so easily so he’ll turn around and do something differeng.

I doubt it's misinformation.
The Texas guys reporting it are very clued in to stuff down there.

It is like climbing a high mountain and finding nothing at the top except a restaurant where they sell ginger beer, surrounded by fog but equipped with wireless.
So I actually sat through that whole movie, not just the trailer.
It’s amazing how much comedic talent was wasted by that film. I never imagined Chevy Chase, Lily Tomlin, Jack Black, and Catherine O’Hara could all be in a movie soooooo bad.
I never saw the movie,
nor did I want to.
I did, however, watch the a very tiny bit of Laguna Beach. And quite a bit more of The Hills. The things I do for Audrina?!

No
But this is even worse than before. Especially in 2012 when they don’t have Boise yet.
"Shh, I don't want this notion that I can be level-headed getting around it will totally ruin my online rep" - HoyaGoon
The days of the Big East's auto-bid are numbered.
In the new BCS/plus1/playoff negotiations going on, it looks like AQ status is going bye-bye. The other 5 power conferences have tie-ins with the current BCS bowls, so AQ is redundant for them. And eliminating the status is a symbolic bone to throw to the mid-majors.

Their athletic departments can definitely afford that
Since it’s only for football. They didn’t add SDSU and Boise for anything else in part because of that cost. The football teams will make enough to offset those travel costs.
"Shh, I don't want this notion that I can be level-headed getting around it will totally ruin my online rep" - HoyaGoon
But does SD draw? The googler tells me avg 34,000. No one asks me about any of this stuff, but I don’t get it.
Well, sure
but they weren’t getting the UCFs and SMUs in there back then. It’ll be a much bigger draw now.
by Brock Sampson on Feb 22, 2012 9:53 PM CST up reply actions
34,000 is a capacity crowd at many BCS AQ schools now
For a school like that, it’s media revenue and any revenue sharing between conference members that will pay the bills. I’m sure they’ll be fine financially as far as covering travel expenses.
"Shh, I don't want this notion that I can be level-headed getting around it will totally ruin my online rep" - HoyaGoon

Seriously, guys. Just stop. I think Mercer is trying to get an FBS team. Presbyterian College got an FCS team, why would you go out and add high-overhead sports in the current financial environment? Stop fantasizing about it making your school legitimate. Football’s a massive waste of resources at nearly every school in the country. Moreso at FBS level.
Oh, I thought you meant why are we caring about it
But you clearly mean WTFUMASS? I agree. It would be different if you were already a non-football school in a BCS conference (UConn), but for UMass to think they’ll be the next Boise or USF (or even UConn) in that part of the country makes no sense to me. IF (big if) Villanova had done it coming into the Big East that would have made a little more sense.

and it’s against a bad TTech team, in Hilton.
But, TT does have a Waterloo native on their team. #44, Nash. I think I taught that kid when I was a student teacher.

That is some kind of collapse.
And the BTN announcers are right… It’s 5 guys looking around and saying to the other “No, you take it!”
Number...13, I think for Tech.
I swear he’s just a dude that the coaching staff picked up from a pickup game while coming up to Ames
That's how bad that last possession was.
He’s now opted for the more verbose “self-inflicted wounds”.
just switched over from ISU-TTU

where the Hoosiers play North Carolina Central or something thing, who are in their first year of D1 competition.

Looks like ISU is finally getting their boot on Tech's neck.
Can’t really afford to do that the rest of their games though

Midterms suck so much
at least hell week will be over tomorrow
This late in my academic career I'm only in like one class at a time
And research/writing the rest of the time. But that one class is Partial Differential Equations and it suuuucks. Midterm is Friday-I can’t believe I used to have to deal with 3-4 midterms in a single week. I guess I did have the extra stress of a little travel grant this week, but that wasn’t much. And it has roughly a 50/50 chance of being accepted, which is huge compared to the long odds of most grants these days.

Barca is my least favorite, but it's not as bad as Arsenal's away shirt from this year (or Liverpool's third)
I don’t know why gradients are still a thing.
I also assumed the sleeve stripe was blue on Arsenal’s shirt. Don’t they have blue in their badge or crest thingie?
by The Mexican't on Feb 23, 2012 11:09 AM CST up reply actions
Hmm, it could be navy.
I just assumed it was black…
"I want to be a cowboy. I don't want to be a panda. Pandas are boring, stupid and boring. Bad panda!"
yeah, the Barca kit is too far away from their traditional kit
and why would the socks be a different shade of blue, that doesn’t appear anywhere else on the kit?
