SUGAR BOWL LIVEGAMEOPENTHREAD

Photo

Iowa's record against BCS bowl teams is stellar. Since 2007, Iowa has gone 4-3 against teams that eventually played in the Rose, Sugar, Fiesta, or Orange Bowl or the BCS National Championship game (and that's with an 0-2 mark in 2010). That includes a 1-0 record against tonight's opponents, as Michigan faces Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl (7:30 CST, ESPN). The Wolverines opened as three-point favorites; that has comically been whittled down to a pick 'em.

Anyway, open thread is open. No racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, illegal internet streams of the game, general douchebaggery, or -- this is especially important tonight -- NO POLITICS. I know it's Caucus Night. Go elsewhere for discussion.

Yeah, I posted that in the INP thread.

I’m excited about our younger OLs, though. I would be distraught if he was a top-notch DL.

Jebus posted an article from SI (I think) about him on the Twitter.

Sounds like he’s already had some brushes with AIRBHG; his house burned down when he was a kid and he had non-Hodgkins lymphoma (I think) in middle school.

Why do they still let him try to do that?

Is it just a self-esteem thing where Hoke throws his hands in the air and sighs “Sure, I guess you’re a QB. Why not try to throw the ball just once here.”

Points allowed during bowl season (not including sugar bowl and cotton bowl)

Big XII – 24, 10, 56, 27, 22, 38, and 14 for average of 27.3 PPG

Big Ten – 32, 31, 33, 14, 30, 24, 30, 30, and 45 for average of 29.9 PPG

Did I see a bottom line about reiff leaving??

I haven’t look around at any of the regular news sites yet.

by Argulor on Jan 3, 2012 10:23 PM CST reply actions

Not suprised by either

Reiff is a first rounder, maybe top 15 and probably wasnt going to benefit fron another year. why stick around? McCall is the least suprising news story ever. people were calling it months ago.

getting a 4 star RB? now thats unexpected, but in a good way.

You had to know that Santorum wasn’t going to be far behind.

Hoping at least one headline reads something like “Santorum surges from behind to make splash in Iowa.”

RichRod left Hoke with a tremendous talent at QB.

The emergence of Trouissant was HUGE for the Wolverines. The B1G is better when Michigan isn’t a steaming pile of failure. Plus, watching Iowa beat them is more fun when Michigan doesn’t blow goats.

If you mean Va Tech

they shot themselves in the foot so many times in this game, all the way down to the false start where they would have had 1st-and-goal with plenty of time to punch it in.
