Newspapers are dying and have shown that they need to move to the web, but trying to block out blogs is uncool, and will also, eventually, hurt old media. Without blogs linking to the old media their sites will eventually shrivel. If the old guys aren’t sharing links, the blogs have no reason to do so either.

Some of the blogs for major league teams have already established themselves well enough that they can probably live without old media. As bloggers start to get jobs like Jacobi’s, they may help their old pals make connections as well. The papers will have to learn to play nice if they want to stay open.

For one, there’s a HUGE jump between college and the pros and especially the speed of the B1G compared to the NBA. Take out a training camp, and any rookie will have it tough. In fact, (the vastly underrated*) Jon Leuer is the only B1G rookie getting any burn. I think the difference in game style from the B1G to the NBA is pretty much the same as your average HS to a BCS level program. It’s not a different game, but it’s close.

I’m not sure which outlet saved the screenshots, but there were some really dumb tweets. The kid just didn’t realize that twitter isn’t something that should be used as a stream of consciousness tool so he was constantly talking about wanting to get laid and calling his buddies dick heads.
(Mostly) typical HS stuff, and the timeline was private so he probably thought he was in the clear. Others will learn quickly from his mistakes.

The fight went as expected. Guillard was the better fighter on his feet and then made a poor decision that resulted in him trying to defend submissions. Letting this fight get to the ground was instant death for Melvin.

I think they would have gotten a pretty good return on their Chip Kelly investment if he had ended up leaving for the NFL. (Which it sounds like he’s NOT going to do now.)
