Iowa vs. Michigan Basketball LIVEGAMEOPENTHREAD
Michigan Wolverines at Iowa Hawkeyes, Jan 14, 2012 12:00 PM CST
Another B1G game, another ranked opponent. Iowa returns to CHA today to entertain #13 Michigan, fresh off a narrow home escape to Northwestern earlier this week. Let's try not to lose this one by 30+, eh? That seems like a good place to start. Fran mentioned possible changes to the starting lineup in his presser on Thursday, so that will be something to watch here.
The game's on BTN at 12pm CT.

I should have the dough to get a new one in a week or two, so my Skyrim withdrawal won’t get too bad (I just hope my game save didn’t get fried). Minny (W)
PSU (W)
@ jNW (W)
@ PSU (W)
Indiana (L)
Wisky (L)
@ Illinois (L)
@ Nebby (W)
jNW (W)
That’s 7-5 the rest of the way, 10-8 overall in conference. Final record: 18-11, which should be good enough for the NIT and a really long shot at the NCAA tournament with our two big wins.

"No I'm not going to 'limber up'. You ever see a lion stretching before it takes down a gazelle?"
That would be 18-14 (assuming a B1G tournament loss)
Plus any wins we get in the conference tourney.
That would be an absolute lock for the NIT in this year’s B1G. I would even go so far as saying potential bubble team with a win or two in Indianapolis, but I think the ugly non-conference losses would nip that in the bud.

I honestly like Denver's chances to "make it a game"..
I won’t go as far as saying they’ll win… but, they were up 13-3 with a 4th and 1 in the Patriots redzone in the 2Q in their last meeting and elected for a FG instead of going for it. Easily with they way they were moving, it could’ve been a 20-3 game and I would’ve bet them to win it after that. But hey, they say the key to winning in the playoffs is you have to stop the run and run the ball considering the weather in January… Broncs may have a shot, I’d take that 14 all day.
Agreed.

I've always thought that Big Ten officials call a game according to the preference of the home team.
I don’t usually see bias toward one team or another but they tend to let more go at places like Michigan State where they typically play a more physical brand of basketball, but with teams that play more of a finesse style they’ll call it a lot closer. That’s what I’ve always attributed the immense home court advantage for every Big Ten team. It really is crazy how difficult it has been historically to win a road game in the Big Ten.

agreed
Assembly Hall (Illinois) is probably the biggest example of that… their up and down style of motion offense play is loaded with tons of little body check calls on the defense and seemingly non-factoring physical bumps by the D get called non-stop
If San Francisco is going to win this game
this is definitely the recipe.
